I am a second year MSc student with a background in immunology. My project looks at examining the impact of restoring ancestral signalling pathways to Shigella flexneri M90T.
Sophia DiClemente
Sophia is a first year MSc student. Her project examines the consequences of restoring the function of lost signaling networks in Shigella flexneri on the behaviour of the bacteria.

I am a fourth-year Biomedical Science student passionate about exploring the realm of Microbiology. I have a particular interest in antibiotic resistance and in understanding the various factors that influence a bacterium’s susceptibility to different drugs. My current project focuses on the role of uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) filamentation on antibiotic resistance. Through this project, I aim to gain a deeper understanding of how bacterial filamentation impacts the treatment of patients with urinary tract infections.

I am a fourth-year undergraduate Biology student. My project analyzes whether wzzB is regulated by pmrAB in Shigella sonnei. My research interest lies in infectious diseases because I am passionate about understanding their mechanisms, tracking outbreaks, and developing effective prevention and treatment strategies.

I am a 5th-year Biomedical Science co-op student with a strong interest in microbiology. Currently, I am studying bacterial pathogenesis in the McPhee lab, with my thesis focusing on Shigella host adaptation through the restoration of key regulatory genes.
